SHERRY'S SECRET DICTIONARY COVER

Woohoo! This is cover I did for Sherry Bedard's book about DOGS ( which is so fitting since I draw dogs all of the time, so I had so much fun making this). Her book will be up for sale online, so I'll post a link to it soon. Thanks Sherry for having me work on this with you, I couldn't ask for a better project and person to work with. :)

THE NEW YORKER COVERS

Here are my entries for The New Yorker Eustace Tilley cover. The first is him as a kid with a paper hat on and a caterpillar (instead of a butterfly), titled: Eusty Tilley. The second is a monster eating a chicken leg ( hahahaha) based off the silhouette of Tilley titled: Eustacarnivore T.. Artists were supposed to reinterpret or recreate the original cover. I've been saying for the past year that I've been wanting to do a cover for The New Yorker so even if it's through this contest, I still got to do it. :) I don't think anyone likes the monster one but I love love love love love love love it. It falls more into my larger abstractish/cartoonish art I've been working on. I love the simplicity of it and it's dirt and grimey cartoony texture/feeling/style. It was the first sketch I did when I started to think about what I would do and I never let it go. Ahh. Art.

WKWS : LITERARY PUBLICATION

WKWS

is a publication my friend/writer/singer/promoter/extraordinaquarium Erin Smith (in NYC) and I are starting. I am the art director/co-editor/writer/and illustrator. It's gonna be a lil' baby full of goodness with the work of some very talented writers (up and coming and deliriously existing). I will illustrate selected works-so every issue will always have a theme and it's a surprise to the author if their work will be illustrated or not.

Very clean, very simple, very interesting, and very smart.

What does WKWS stand for? Well...it's up to you and if we meet in person then I'll tell ya. ;)
